Across the Water — duet for violin and viola (D minor, 4/4, about four and three-quarter minutes). Written 2026-10-13 for Graham (viola) and a beginner violin friend, for Classical Jams Austin — option 2 of three alternative duets, in the mood and sound of Graham's own solo viola piece "Returned": bare open octaves, drones, a scale run over the drone, the B-flat to A sigh, silence, open strings at the end. The idea is a line the audience can watch being handed over: the viola calls each phrase in bare octaves, the violin echoes it plain; then the roles trade; then a two-bar canon on the same easy tune; silence; the sigh; both players end on their two open strings.
